Depending on the required forming operations, the line typically consists of four to six single presses. The production process is fully automated from the blank to the finished component. Depending on requirements, automation is provided by conventional robots or Crossbar Robots developed by Schuler.
The control and graphic display for hydraulic press lines offer the operator uniform, user-friendly operation, efficient fault diagnostics and the management of all process and die data for all presses and automation.

Description

Schuler edge lettering and rimming machine RS 50 permit both edge rimming and edge engraving for coin blanks in diameters of 14 to 50 mm. As standard equipment, feeding of the machine is full automated by inclined conveyor and feed drum. Manual feeding is also available as an option. This ensures an especially gentle handling for processing, for example, precious metal blanks.

Coin blanks in diameters from 14 to 50 mm can be processed on the model ST 50 S for edge rimming. Since two feed drums are used the production output rates are especially high. For example, the processing rate for coin blanks with a diameter of 14 mm is 600,000 blanks per hour while the rate for a 50 mm blank is 225,000 pph.

All products manufactured on the blank cutting line require using the appropriate coil width. The edge trimming equipment by Schuler is a really advanced one and makes it possible to reduce the number of coil sizes, as well as to produce a number of coil widths from the same standard coil.

Next, this equipment is able to trim both sides of the strip in order to achieve the desired width. The created scrap may be coiled up or chopped again, depending on the type of application running, while Schuler offers edge strip choppers, recoilers and coilers for this purpose.

AG Schuler has worked in cooperation with Feintool, a Swiss company, for the development of this fineblanking press, for which the manufacturers have worked over 30 years. The presses are especially designed for coining, bending and forming complex fineblanking parts, with a capacity between 3,200 and 13,000kN.

In addition to this, the presses also allow processing materials with a thickness of up to 16mm. They are noted for extreme precision of the slide guiding over the entire width and length. Other features that users will enjoy include support for special tools that neutralize and absorb forces, as well as the ability to adjust the stroke's height.

This setup leads to low investment costs and reduced delivery times, at the same time allowing short assembly and commissioning times.
