This progressive starter is a pneumatic unit that gets air to move into the circuit over time to keep excess pressure bursts from being a threat. This is made with many internal valves and will let two different stages of operation work. First, air can be regulated in a pin as it flows from the APR. Second, the downstream pressure will reach 40% to 60% of its upstream pressure to make full-port flows ready to work. After that, air flow is cut off as the downstream circuit is relaxed.
This starter is made to work in cases where actuators have to be kept from moving too quickly to the point where they may be harder to manage. This is also useful for in-feed needs where air support has to be kept in check. This is useful but be aware that it may be tough to get an exact pressure level to open a valve as required.

Two models of this 2/2 progressive valve are available, one that uses solenoid actuation and the other using a pneumatic version. It is an STD progressive start valve that is designed to open automatically as soon as downstream/upstream pressure ratio gets close to 50%. The upstream air moves downstream via regulation needle when there is no pilot and the valve enables full flow once it receives a signal coming from the pneumatic solenoid or the outside. It is not designed to relive the downstream circuit.

The progressive starter's function is to gradually feed air with a controlled flow into the circuit. The unit is available in two versions with solenoid or pneumatic actuation. The valves open up with the control signals to slowly guide the controlled air from flow regulator towards the downstream circuit.
The valve enables to open the main inlet duct connecting in the APR, when the downstream circuit pressure reaches 50%-60% of the upstream pressure. A built-in flow regulator is used to adjust elapse time between the valve's starting and opening.
The air flow in the pipe can be cut off through operation of the control valve which closes the valve to quickly relieve the downstream circuit. The progressive starter also serves as an actuator positioner which guards the system against any sudden risk from kickback during operation.
