Multi-passage rotary union - Rotostat N

GAT's Rotostat N series are axial clearance seals which are controlled hydrostatically. They contain a complex, inverse hydrostatic gap regulator guarantees even under high pressures, the gap between stationary and rotating machinery parts is maintained at a few microns, thus the spillage is very small.

The series is susceptible to the alterations of the temperature and the surges of pressure because its layout is complied to handle stress. It is recommended to rough applications like pusher centrifuges, coilers in mills, propeller adjustment in ships, and blade adjustment in water turbines. Meanwhile, the series is available as a cartridge for installation in customers’ own constructions.

The Rotostat E is a compact rotary union with hydrostatically aligned radial clearance seals. GAT's Rotostat A are hydrostatic clearance seals, integrated with an axial-operated mechanism. The seals feature their light construction enabling the components such as oil, emulsion, and other non-greasy liquids, air and gases to be supplied through it. It also provides compactness allowing operations to be done in limited areas. A patented hydrostatic gap regulator is offered by the series guaranteeing a consistent size of gap resulting to a very small leakage.

The application field of the Rotostat A involves the installation in tool machinery for supplying hydraulic oil for clamping purposes, as well as the supplying of coolants and pressurized air. It offers long service life containing pressure up to 80 bar at 30 000 rpm.

Function and Design

The Rotodisk S series are axial rotary unions with hydro-statically released contact seals and an automatic alignment compensation system and are single channeled. This enables the contact seals to have perfect full surface contact always.
The influence of the pressure of the medium on the moment of friction negligible is due to the hydro-static release. The wear is minimized due to a very small amount of friction because of the combinations of this system.
The advantage of this technology is that Rotodisk S, at the simultaneous high pressure of 80 bar and the very high operating speeds of 60,000 rpm , and can be operated reliably.

GAT Rotodisk SW series rotary unions have a radial coolant supply. They have a very compact cartridge design. They can handle pressure of 70 bars at 6000 rpm. The unions are single-channel type. They have been designed for applications, which require radial supply of medium into the shaft with low leakage, and also have less installation space. Examples include milling heads or driven devices.

Standard installation dimensions were employed to facilitate easy integration into the present spindle. A long service life is ensured by the selected materials used in friction partners.

With an anodized aluminum body, Type GFL boasts a special seal design which allows dry running while maintaining seal balance ratio at optimal levels to keep friction at a minimum. Vibration and wobbling are prevented, thanks to the wide spaces between the precision angular contact bearings, which are in turn protected by labyrinth seal and drain holes.

Air quality is also improved by this device's ability to reduce coolant misting, even as it prevents leakages during tool changes. It generates very low heat, and also keeps vibration low. It comes with a closing ring, which is useful for proximity sensing drawbar position.

Type GFL is also available for rotation with compressed air, and can be supplied with additional bearings, if needed.
