Simultaneously the partial discharges also emits electrical impulses and acoustic signals. PDL 650 features multiple sensors spread over the transformer making it capable to measure acoustic signals. The software uses the time difference of all incoming signals to determine the failure location. The coordinates are finally displayed in a 3D model of the transformer. The protocols or recordings of the complete measurement can be simply created by just a mouse click for later reference.

There is a short co-axial cable which connects the coupling capacitor with the channel acquisition unit that has been linked with the fiber optic cable which is connected to the server.

The OMS 605 Model is a compact partial discharge monitoring system developed by Omicron. It is mainly used for inspections of high-voltage assets under load. The measurement is performed at the assets one after the other. It can be easily connected to existing sensors installed at the asset such as coupling capacitors or high recurrence current transformers.

The system is supplied with 3 channels for catching partial discharge activities at all three stages. Its PD acquisition simplifies the suppression of noise signals, segregation and individual assessment of specific PD sources.
