They can be applicable for interrupted cuts and parting of large diameter. There is no upper jaw with it like the other clamping systems and so can provide with unobstructed and free chip flow. Free flow of chip along with tangential clamping can provide better life for pocket and tool. It also solves the problem of pulling out of inserts at the time of retraction. Tag inserts can be available with familiar chip forms along with cutting edges that are angular frontal and neutral. Tools also have an extraction device and also a clamping that is user friendly.
