DESCH KA Complete Press Drives

The KA replaces the complete spur-reduction gears or one level of gearing in punch robots, eccentric presses and knee lever presses or similar machines, where the energy needed by the machine is taken from a quickly turning flywheel.
The compact, ready-to-install unit saves you costs in design, assembly and manufacturing. The machine press platforms can therefore be made smaller and significantly more cost-effective. An extremely low inertia is the reason for benefits such as:

Very small braking angle = high operating safety
High no. of single strokes = increased productivity

Large work capacity allows high conversion energy to be transferred at low speeds. In addition, the drives are very environmentally friendly, i.e. low operating noise, less wear and low energy costs.

DESCH KAE Complete Press Drives

This flywheel direct drive represents an enhancement of the renowned standard complete drive. A torque motor is integrated into the flywheel, which functions virtually free of wear and provides the highest power density even in the smallest available space. This benefits the press manufacturer by being able to dispense with the previous motor, the motor mounting plate and the belt drive. This simplifies the design of the press and saves assembly time.

The torque reduction of the flywheel - due to the energy extraction during the conversion process - is accelerated by the highly-dynamic torque motor back to the nominal speed required within the shortest time. There is no loss of effectivity due to the belt.

By integrating the motor into the flywheel, the dimensions of the standard series were retained.

Vorteile:

Wear and maintenance-free drive
No belt drive required = low-cost machine engineering
No motor bracket and belt-driven reduction gearing required
Compact, simple design
Small protective cover
FEM-supported component optimisation
Over 50 years of experience in constructing planetary gears

Press drive - KAS

DESCH complete press drives KAS

This drive is fitted with two levels of gears, which can be switched in or out, whilst in operation, via hydraulic clutches. In this way flexibility is maximised. Optionally, continuous operation is possible in the following modes:

quick feed movement / slow processing movement, or
slow feed movement / quick processing movement

The switching point can be selected as required. With this drive productivity is increased and tool wear is reduced. KAS is exchangeable with other complete drives so that later modification is possible.

The benefits for you:

Reduction of the impact shock
Increased working capacity
Reduction of tool wear
The efficiency is independent of the travel adjustment
Unit is ready to build in

Indexing clutch - FS-X00 series

Generally used as an indexing clutch where a compact package is desired. A snap-ring bearing must be inserted before installing. An adequate seal or cover must be provided at the open end to retain lubricant. Shaft end must be turned down and threaded to accommodate bearing and lock nut.

Thrust clutch

In backstopping (or holdback) applications, one race is always fixed to a stationary ground member. The function of the clutch is to permit rotation of the mechanism connected to the other race, in one direction only, and to prevent any rotation in the reverse direction at all times. Although the clutch normally overruns most of the time, it is referred to as a holdback or backstop in conveyors, gear reducers and similar equipment because its function is to prevent reverse rotation.
