The AvaSoft Application Software - Color provides a precise way to perform color measurements using the basic principles and techniques defined by the International Commission on Illumination (CIE). The CIE 1976 L*a*b* color parameters are calculated, along with other parameters, like Hue, Chroma and X, Y, Z. The standard illuminant tristimulus values for Xn, Yn, and Zn are constant and depend only on the type of standard illuminant that has been chosen. The CIE tristimulus values X, Y and Z of the color of an object are obtained by multiplying the relative power P of a standard illuminant, the reflectance R (or the transmittance) of the object, and the 1931 or 1964 CIE standard observer functions xn, yn and zn (2 and 10 degree angles). The integral of these products over all the wavelengths in the visible spectrum (380 to 780 nm with a 5 nm interval) gives the tristimulus values.

The AvaSoft-CHEM module by Avantes supports a good and high quality performance which allows an online concentration determination with a spectroscopy system.

The Lambert-Beers law states there is a linear relationship between absorbance and concentration, A (absorbance) = e (extinction) * c (concentration) * l (optical path length). In the actual use of the given law, the relation is only linear at absorbance levels that are less than 2 Au. There is a need for several samples with known concentration specifically to measure the absorbance. It is also critical to always measure it at the same or exact wavelength.

To achieve a better chemometric model, it is highly recommended to use numerous samples of several concentrations. The AvaSoft-CHEM also uses absorbance values mainly to create a linear calibration line, which is then used to measure the concentration of unknown samples.

Fully Automated FVA Benchtop Microscope
The new FVA digital fiber microscope is a unique device that fully automates the inspection process, significantly reducing inspection time and simplifying workflow. The FVA microscope is used to inspect the polished surface of fiber optic connectors, and its high-resolution results are ideally suited for post-polish inspection of high quality end faces. It also detects scratches that technicians may miss, delivering the level of sensitivity long sought in the industry. The FVA is powered by a 12V adapter (included) and a PC via USB 2.0.
FiberChekPRO is an advanced application that determines the acceptability of optical fiber end faces through automated inspection and analysis. It identifies and characterizes defects and contamination and determines their location relative to the fiber core. It then provides a PASS or FAIL result according to a pre-configured failure criteria setting.

The FVD requires a connector adapter and PC to supply power to the unit through the USB 2.0 port.
