MARIAHs continuing focus on improving existing vertical axis wind turbine technology developed by the companys predecessors has led to a highly efficient system deliverable at lower cost, easier to maintain and less costly to operate than current horizontal axis wind turbines. The newest commercial system is scheduled for introduction in 2012, and is capable of producing up to 2.5 megawatts of power. Like the Mid Range systems, the 2.5 Mw turbine utilizes a new aerodynamic three-blade configuration, mounted on a new, heavy duty, easy to install tower.
The companys proprietary new design significantly improves wind turbine performance and efficiency beyond virtually all current horizontal axis wind turbines, using numerous breakthrough innovations unique to the industry:

The e230i is a distinctive 3 blade turbine that has a low start up torque, increasing its efficiency. The axial flux permanent magnet brushless alternator is powered by an optimised three blade rotor, with patented pitch control. The e230i maintains rated output in excess wind speeds, optimising the potential power output and energy yield.

The e230i is used predominantly on farms and rural installations for power where there is no grid connection available.

The e300i is the next generation of small wind turbine. It is a low starting machine allowing it to generate electricity at relatively low wind speeds. The high performance three blade rotor with pitch control powers a twin axial flux permanent magnet brushless alternator, with good heat management. The e300i maintains its rated output in excess wind speeds, optimising the potential power output and energy yield. More usable power generated, stored and used. The e400i is the latest development in the Kestrel range. The completely new 120 pole single axial flux direct drive alternator incorporates three main shaft bearings for long service life. The e400i maintains rated output in excess wind speeds using Kestrel patented blade pitch control. The e400i therefore gives an optimum energy harvest with no cut out wind speed. This Kestrel, like the other models optimises low wind and stays in complete control whether loaded or unloaded during excessive wind speeds.
