The N100/3300 is designed for strong wind speeds (IEC-1) and has a 32 percent greater nominal output compared with its predecessor. Yet, despite this substantial increase in output, sound power levels have remained stable.

The rotor diameter is 10 metres larger compared with its predecessor, resulting in a 23% increase in rotor sweep. This makes the N100/3300 a particularly efficient turbine for strong-wind locations (IEC-1).

Nordex N117 (2.4 Megawatt)

The N117/2400 has been specially developed for low-wind sites. Thanks to a rotor diameter of 117 meters and a rotor sweep of 10,715 square meters, the N117/2400 is the highest-yielding IEC 3 turbine in its class. In typical low-wind regions, it will achieve a capacity of over 3,500 full-load hours, thus exceeding other turbines in this category by 20 percent. This translates into a capacity factor of 40 percent. As a result, Nordex customers using the N117/2400 will be able to achieve high and steady electricity production in regions characterized by lighter winds. The acoustic power level is a maximum 105 decibels, thus allowing the turbine to be used closer to residential areas and ensuring an optimum turbine array in the wind farm. The N117/2400 has also been designed with construction height limits in mind. Thus, with a hub height of 91 meters on the standard tower, it remains below the critical threshold of 150 meters.

The turbine is the result of eleven years of systematic ongoing technical enhancements to the multi-megawatt platform, 26 years of wind power engineering and the experience gained from over 1,300 installed multi-megawatt wind power systems.

As the high wind speed sites across the world become saturated the focus has shifted to providing efficient wind turbine solutions that operate at a lower wind spectrum. Suzlon's S9X wind turbines meet these needs.
Taking into consideration the stated dynamics of wind energy, Suzlon has created the S9X suite of turbines - S95 and S97, with a 2.1 MW rating for all markets, which is an evolutionary advancement over the successful S88 wind turbine. The S9X's design starts with the current S88, boasting over 4,100 MW of installed capacity in 11 countries and globally averages over 97% availability, making it Suzlon's most robust turbine until now.
