Solar power plant - 250 MW | Agua Caliente

The Agua Caliente Solar Project, located 65 miles east of the city of Yuma, Arizona, is the worlds largest operational PV power plant with 250MW (AC) connected to the electricity grid. First Solar designed and is constructing the plant and will operate and maintain the facility for owners NRG Energy and MidAmerican Solar. During the construction period, the site will employ a daily average of 400 to 450 workers. Upon completion, Agua Caliente will have a generating capacity of 290MW (AC).

Solar power plant - 550 MW | Desert Sunlight

First Solar is currently constructing the 550 megawatt (MW) Desert Sunlight Solar Farm, which is co-owned by NextEra Energy Resources, GE Energy Financial Services, and Sumitomo Corporation of America. The project is located on land managed by the Federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM), about six miles north of the community of Desert Center. Desert Sunlight will provide enough energy to serve the needs of about 160,000 average California homes, displacing approximately 300,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) per yearthe equivalent of taking about 60,000 cars off the road.

Construction on the project began in September 2011, and the facility is expected to be fully operational by 2015. When completed, the Desert Sunlight Solar Farm will support California in its efforts toward providing one-third of its energy from renewable resources, while establishing Riverside County as a world leader in renewable energy.

Solar power plant - 550 MW | Topaz Solar Farm

Located on the northwestern corner of the Carrisa Plains, the 550 megawatt Topaz Solar Farm will produce sufficient electricity to power 160,000 average California homes. The Topaz location was selected after an extensive review of potential sites in California which considered the available solar resource, proximity to existing electrical transmission lines, current land uses, and environmental sensitivities.

Economic benefits include an estimated $417 million in positive impacts, including property and sales tax revenues for the County, wages from direct and indirect employment, induced spending and supply chain revenues.

Thermoelectric generator

Teledyne Energy System has been at the forefront of thermoelectric power systems for the past 40 years, starting with the SNAP3 space generator in 1961. During that time, Teledyne has produced hundreds of generators ranging in size from milliwatts to multi-hundred watts for both space and terrestrial applications.

Beginning in 2001, Teledyne began developing PEM fuel cell systems for the aerospace market. Applications include high efficiency PEM powerplants for Reusable Launch Vehicles for NASA, regenerative systems for high altitude unmanned aircraft/airships, and advanced designs for unique missions.

Teledyne specializes in custom designs for a wide range of customers and has the complete in-house capability for both commercial and classified applications involving thermoelectrics or PEM fuel cell power systems.
