Sheets of flexible expanded graphite, reinforced with a tanged foil of stainless steel, for flat gaskets used under severe operating conditions. Excellent resistance to creep and excellent chemical stability. Good sealing capacity even with low torque loads and on flanges with uneven surfaces. Complies with the standards DIN 28091-4 (technical supply conditions for graphite based joints).

APPLICATIONS
Ideal for use at high temperatures and pressures, with thermal-mechanical cycles or shocks; in the presence of saturated and superheated steam and chemically aggressive fluids, with the exception of strong oxidising agents (see the table of chemical resistance).

Graphite seal / metal - -200 - 900 °C | Steel Trap™

Manufactured by Chesterton, this Steel Trap metal/graphite gasket has concentric and isolated convolutions made from sheet stainless steel. They are used to trap pure graphite against the flange face. The graphite sealing media is trapped because the flange is tightened so as to gradually flatten the convolutions. This results in protection of the graphite against oxidizing corrosive agents and atmospheres, as well as a highly effective seal against both faces of the flange.

The gaskets can stay in place, providing effective seals until it is necessary to remove them for equipment repair or servicing. Due to the reduced downtime and maintenance, the seals repay their cost several times over. In addition, the same size of gasket is useful in most flange pressure classes because of its unique, self-locating design. This provides multiple advantages, such as the inventory is reduced, the prospect of incorrect gasket selection is practically eliminated, and it provides tremendous time savings in locating the correct gasket.

The GTPI 5300 Series manufactured by Chesterton is an inhibited and graphite ring made with a die-form design. Additionally, this device is created from pure graphite ribbon tape materials. It has the capacity of a self lubricating system, wherein, it has a low friction level.

Moreover, the GTPI 5300 inhibited and graphite ring is combined with the One-CI end ring.
