Injector for gas turbines / fuel

As components of pump-line-nozzle injection systems, conventional fuel injection valves ensure that when a defined opening pressure of the fuel supplied by the injection pump is exceeded, the fuel is injected very quickly in a uniform fine atomisation.
Here not only a precise begin of injection is very important but also fast closing at the end of the injection process. Proper static and dynamic design of the injection hydraulics prevents so-called needle shocks. This reliably prevents even very minor unintended post-injection with after-dribbling effects, something that is necessary to ensure smokeless engine operation.
During the injection process itself, optimum atomisation is particularly important. Very fine spray-hole intake geometries ensure a small droplet size distribution with a high spray impingement. This ensures optimum combustion with good volumetric efficiency and low fuel consumption. In addition, the even droplet size distribution in the engine combustion chamber prevents localized low excess air ratios, thus reducing the level of air pollutants. For many decades, our conventional fuel injection valves have undergone permanent further development relating to these key parameters. This results in high standards in terms of functional behaviour, wear and service life.
We have also developed multifunctional valve systems based on this product family which allow our customers to supply several types of fuel to the combustion chambers of their engines in parallel, under optimised conditions for each. These valve systems are based on multi-needle nozzles and offer maximum flexibility for engine operation.

Turbofan engine - Trent XWB

The Trent XWB combines innovative proven Trent design with world-class after-sales services delivering the best power solution for the latest aircraft family from Airbus. The engine:

Includes the latest technology for minimised operating costs
Has single engine type operational benefits
Will have the lowest carbon emissions of any widebody engine.
It joins the Trent family of engines - having already won 67% of new generation wide bodied aircraft.

Powering the A350-800 and -900 in the 250-300 seat market, the Trent XWB continues the partnership of Rolls-Royce and Airbus, building on the market leading position of the Trent 700 on the Airbus A330.

The Trent XWB will also power the larger A350-1000 in the 350 seat market, the A350-900 freighter and the ultra long range A350-900R, providing a single engine type across the aircraft family.

The Trent XWB will set new standards in world-class reliability and durability through:

Low risk engine design
Combined experience from the engine development programmes of the Trent 900, Trent 1000 and the Trent XWB.

Turbofan engine - Trent 1000

The fifth generation of the Trent engine family, the Trent 1000 is the only engine optimised to power the Boeing 787 Dreamliner family of aircraft. The Trent 1000 engine was selected as launch engine when the Boeing 787-8 aircraft entered service in 2011 and has been selected as launch engine when the 787-9 aircraft enters service in 2014.

The Trent 1000 delivers the best through life fuel burn on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

The Trent 1000 provides all the thrust the Boeing 787 Dreamliner family may require. Capable of providing up to 78,000lb thrust, the engine will power the 787-8, 787-9 and 787-10 aircraft variants.

The Trent 1000 delivered the best ever entry into service for a wide body aircraft engine. The Trent 1000 entered into service in late 2011 and has maintained a dispatch reliability of well over 99.9% throughout, despite a range of highly demanding operations.

Turbofan engine - Trent 900

The Trent 900 is the engine of choice for the Airbus A380, with two thirds of operators selecting the engine. It delivers the lowest lifetime fuel burn and has excellent environmental attributes. The Trent 900 will continue to deliver customer benefits as it is part of a living engine family.

The Trent 900 fleet now comprises 228 engines on 57 aircraft in service and have accumulated over 2.5 million hours by August 2013.

The Trent 900 demonstrates the result of the environment being the driving force behind its design. It satisfied all its key requirements, most delivering better than specification: fuel burn, noise, emissions, weight and power. The Trent 900 powered A380 is quiet, meeting the QC0.5 level for Arrivals and QC2 for departures.

As the fourth generation of the Trent family of engines, the Trent 900 benefits from our ability to feed back low-risk new technology from future generations. Rolls-Royce has a demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, having already delivered a fuel burn improvement package for the Trent 900 during 2012. Further enhancement is planned to make the Trent 900 up to 1.8% better than the EIS engine.

The excellent environmental attributes of the engine are evident as it has the greatest cumulative margin to ICAO emission standards of any engine for the A380. The engine has the lowest NOx emissions for the A380, NOx is currently the only regulated emission subject to specific airport charging.

The Trent 800 entered service in April 1996. Built on the solid foundation of Trent 700 (entered service in March 1995) experience, the Trent 800 was certified ahead of schedule at 90,000 lb thrust, exceeding its original target of 84,000lb.

The Trent 800 rapidly established a reputation for industry-leading reliability and the capability of the original design has been demonstrated by continuing thrust growth. Today the Trent 800 is available from 75,000 to 95,000lb thrust with a common engine standard, the widest range of any engine in its class.

The Trent 800 is the power plant of choice for the 777, having secured orders for 40 per cent of the available market.
