With this great demand for quality bulbs, Alstom Bulbs is a product specially engineered to provide the best and most efficient solution for heads up to 30m. Founded on an outstanding knowledge and experience in design, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and management of complex bulb projects, Alstom takes pride in having over 309 bulbs installed across the globe. Practically compatible with various applications, Alstom Bulbs are perfect for low heads up to 30 meters. Each bulb’s reduced size makes it easy to maintain and work with thereby causing a great decrease in operational costs up to 25%. Apart from being cost-efficient, this type of bulb requires a minimal need for flooding of landscapes because of the run-off-river operation type. Designed with a straight passage in the draft tube greatly improves the bulb’s hydraulic behavior and minimizes the need for excavation. The turbines that can be used as pumps in both flow directions for tidal plant applications, and the sluice mechanisms that are easy to navigate and control also contribute to the overall efficiency of the Alstom Bulbs.

Alstom's Francis turbine is one of the most beneficial turbines out there thanks to how versatile it is. There are many different turbines to find in this line including ones with heads from 40 to 600 meters in size. This can come in a runner form to get its units to work with a greater variety of applications in mind. These can also survive even in the most stressful situations where more effort has to be used just to activate a unit. This is made with outputs of up to 800 MW and has been made in many sizes including one that has runners that are 450 tons in weight and are ten meters in diameter. These turbines could especially be of use in old hydropower plants where output is needed. This can be added to any spot in a refurbishment project to make it easier for the performance of a unit to improve in the long run, thus making it easier for profits to come about.

Alstom's Kaplan turbines are mainly used in low head applications, ranging from 15 to 50 meters, and with the outputs of up to 130mw. Due to double regulation, high efficiency is guaranteed in various head and discharge/output. The vertical config of these turbines allows a larger runner diameter (over 10m), thus the unit power can be increased. By doing this the number of needed units is lowered.

These turbines are often used in large rivers, and have a fish friendly design that improves the survival rate during migration. The turbines have a minimal risk of water pollution and oil leakage.

Our vertical shaft machines have been specially engineered to support heads ranging from 200 to 1800 meters, and make use of multi-jet collectors that generate an output of about 350 MW. The runner diameters are usually up to 4 m but we offer horizontal shaft single or double runner Pelton turbines with one or two jets for smaller units. Made with Alstom quality, these turbines produce the lowest discharges, and reduce inspection, maintenance and labor costs by utilizing the Hooped Pelton runners design. This design displays the buckets that are supported by two separate hoops and therefore help minimize the fatigue stress and bucket fixation. Sure to have high level of hydraulic efficiency, as do all Pelton products, this machine has taken performance to the next level with its being more mechanical stress resistant.
