Automatic control panel for generator sets - MP12-SCR

The MP12-SCR module controls the automatic start and synchronization of the generating set to work in parallel with the other gensets upon receiving an starting signal.

This starting signal is usually driven by the load transfer control module CON-2012 , that controls the mains supply and gives the start-up signal if it fails.

The MP12-SCR uses a fast start and synchronization method called "electrical axis". On receiving the starting-up signal, all the gensets begin the starting cycle with the power circuit breakers closed.

Thus, using a controlled excitation current, the alternators synchronization is produced simultaneously to the starting process of diesel engines, which provides the maximum speed.

However, the user may program the module operation for the "classical method" of synchronization and parallel operation: All the sets start with opened circuit breakers, the first available set will be connected to bars and the others will in turn automatically synchronise and be connected in parallel with the first one put into service.

Once all the sets are started and synchronized, the "available service in bars" signal is given to the load transfer control equipment in order it could connect the load to the gensets.

Each generating set in parallel includes its own MP12-SCR control panel, with all the benefits explained in this catalog for the AUT-MP12 module, and those provided by the gensets operating in parallel. For example, the "genset measurements" display shows the electrical data of the genset.

Control module for generator sets - CON-2012

Control module for generator sets - CON-2012

Sometimes due to the design or to the installation complexity, or if the load transfer switchboard is placed far away from the genset room, it is advisable that the load transfer is controlled separately and independently from the genset control equipment.

In these cases, the solution is the CON-2012 equipment. The genset control equipment will be on these occassions the AUT-MP12DR.

This equipment is also suitable for controlling load transfers with motorised automatic circuit breakers, or for installations with more than one load transfer that require an independent control of each one.

Sometimes where high performances are required for the load transfer control, this equipment will fulfill it.

Mains supply control is carried out by the CON-2012 load transfer control module by means of a three-phase detection of mains failure by minimum voltage, maximum voltage, unbalance among the phases and repetitive microcuts, and gives the genset starting signal.

The equipment can be configured to control any kind of switching: two contactors, one motorized switch or two motorised automatic breakers.

A 5.7" colour TFT screen provides a display of the load transfer switch operating status, electrical measurements, alarms, events and harmonics analysis. Push-buttons in the frontal panel permit the display of the other screens for expanded information.

The electrical measurements displayed, for both genset and mains, are the same detailed for the AUT-MP12 module.

The CON-2012 equipment checks that all the manoeuvres switching commands were successful. Otherwise shows the corresponding alarm.

The harmonics analysis can be performed for mains and genset (for voltage and current).

Control module for generator sets - CON-5012

This load transfer panel adds to the CON-2012 equipment the possibility of carry out a no break load transfer between generating set and mains power supply. The load is transferred in ramp.

a) When the mains supply is restored, the load transfer between the mains and the genset will be carried out with NO BREAK in the utilization power supply.

Control module for generator sets - CON-5012

This load transfer panel adds to the CON-2012 equipment the possibility of carry out a no break load transfer between generating set and mains power supply. The load is transferred in ramp.

a) When the mains supply is restored, the load transfer between the mains and the genset will be carried out with NO BREAK in the utilization power supply.

b) It allows the genset preventive maintenance connecting or disconnecting the real load with NO BREAK. Doing so, there are no interferences for the receptors and the maintenance quality is better.

c) For programmed utilization of the genset in peak hours, all the load transfers will be NO BREAK.

The Low Voltage Electrotechnical Regulations in force in Spain ITC-BT-40 4.2 for no break load transfers, establishes a series of technical requirements. Some requirements affect the control equipment CON-5012. Other requirements concern the installation. Summarising:
No break load transfers may only take place for generating sets of an output of more than 100 kVA.
Only one no break load transfer switch system can be installed between mains and genset.
The earthing of the genset neutral must be disconnected when the set is connected in parallel with mains.
To make easier the load transfer switchboard construction, ELECTRA MOLINS provides the wiring diagram appropriate to each installation.
