Model 9717 incremental encoder gives direct measurement of linear position or speed without touching the reading head and the glass scale. Use of encoder with HR2B or HR2C interpolator offers electronically amplified optical resolution and the output is generated as quadrate square waves plus index from RS422 differential line drivers.
The encoder gives unbuffered phototransistor output sinusoids. Quadrature square waves, gated index, and built-in "watchdog" self-test data is sent via RS-422 differential line drivers for generating digital output signals or increased resolution. Output square waves exist at 20 times the line count on HR2B scale or 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, 12, 16, or 25 times the line count on HR2C.

The LE18, LE20, LE25 and LE35 series of optical linear encoders are extremely resourceful devices that deliver superlative services and exceptionally high performance in many applications. The devices are designed to provide incremental linear measuring lengths. The LE18 is super-compact and provides maximum measuring lengths of 1.2m (48"). The LE20, also quite compact, can measure maximum 1.5m (60"). The LE25 and LE35, power-packed, robust devices both, are designed to deliver measuring lengths of 3.2m (126").

The models are equipped with internal ASIC systems that unfailingly deliver dependable services to provide extremely refined resolutions to the tune of 0.1μm, that is offset by a 4X quadrature decode in the user network. Its output is a differential line driver that transmits the quadrature square waves and index signals via an EIA/RS-422 provision.

The devices are highly conducive to custom-creating desired interpolations by the provision of analog outputs in the range of 11μA or 1V signal outputs. The reading head slides over the glass scale with stupendous speeds of 1m/s i.e 40in/s with the aid of high-exactitude ball bearings. The encoders comprise an extrusion structured from aluminium and sealing flaps that are in rubber. They are compliant with IP53 guidelines.
