The new KREYENBORG slide plate screen changers are applied in processes in which a discontinuous resp. a not pressure constant filtration is sufficient.

With a slide plate screen changer one or two screen cavities are arranged on a swivel or slide plate, which is located between an inlet and an outlet flange.

A movement of this plate effects that the screen cavity is taken out of the process for screen change. At the same time the material flow is either locked or a second screen cavity performs the filtration task.

The operating mode of the screen changers K-SWE/LK-SWE for continuous operation (without an interruption of the melt flow) is based on the well-proven principle of two screen bearing pistons.

During production, the plastic melt is divided into two flow channels inside the screen changer housing, then conveyed through the two filters equipped with the appropriate filter medium. This filter medium consists of screen packs in conjunction with the breaker plates.

Maag's continuous screen changers are based on a proven double-piston design that operates without any additional seals. This sturdy construction delivers a reliable and leak-free filtration of polymer melts for many years, no matter what the size or configuration of the system. On the inlet side, rheologically optimised flow channels distribute the melt flow in even quantities into the screen cavities. The breaker plates are fitted with screen mesh material to match the filtration grade required. After the screens, the two cleaned partial melt flows are brought together and exit the filter housing simultaneously. To change the screen, the pistons are ejected from the housing one after the other using hydraulic cylinders. Once replaced, they are returned to their production position in the same way. During the brief screen change process, the melt flows continuously through the other piston, thereby ensuring the system's constant operation.

As for Maag's newly introduced and patented CSC / BFX, it is the ideal answer to today's requirements in terms of direct recycling processes, such as in rPET bottle flakes to film applications, where the tiniest difference in throughput will have an impact on the film quality (see the press release).
