Ferrotec presents inertia dampers. When a stepper motor runs at its natural frequency, it may undergo too much settling time, vibration and acoustic noise. A Ferrofluidic damper uses ferrofluid for absorption of motion energy through a shearing effect. The redundant oscillatory motion is opposed by the torque produced by this effect.
A Ferrofluidic damper has hermetic sealing. It features a non-magnetic housing, which joins to the motor shaft. Within the housing, there is an inertial mass, which floats on Ferrotec's ferrofluid. This removes the necessity of bearings for supporting the mass. A Ferrofluidics damper provides dependable damping and precise performance without any compromise in speed or accuracy or lowering of torque.
The damper provides various other advantages. It provides superior positioning precision, lower settling time, and lesser torsional oscillations. A Ferrofluidic inertia damper can be fixed to the motor shaft with ease with minimal maintenance needs. It can be adapted to customer's systems for best performance. Common applications include X-Y-Z Plotters, printers, optical scanners.
