Metallic seal - RJ01

Ring-joint gaskets are made in metallic materials.
The demands made on dimensional accuracy and the quality of the surface finish are therefore high, both for the gasket and the facing of the flange.
The two types of ring -joint gaskets differ as follows:

1. In the case of the ball-shaped ring-joint gasket, the ball-shaped surface of the gasket is pressed against the even, conical surface of the groove face during assembly.
2. In the case of the oval-shaped ring-joint gasket, the convex-shaped surface of the gasket forms a seal against the conical surface of the groove face.

The gasket stress increases or decreases proportionally to any changes in the bolting force.
Ring-joint gaskets according to API and ANSI standards are used mainly in the petrochemical industry and in refineries as a reliable sealing system. Soft iron self-regulating discs can be supplied for use in case of damaged groove faces. Other designs are available on request.

The demands made on dimensional accuracy and the quality of the surface finish are therefore high, both for the gasket and the facing of the flange.
The two types of ring -joint gaskets differ as follows:

Lens gaskets are normally used as high-pressure gaskets.
Lens gaskets are stress-resistant.
The seating area of the lens assembled in the turned flange groove increases by increasing bolt load.
One disadvantage however, is that under high pressure and temperatures, the circumference of the gasket lens may bulge which leads to loss of initial load.

The Style BX ring type joint is manufactured in accordance with API 6A. All BX ring type joints incorporate a pressure passage hole to allow for pressure equalization each side of the sealing faces. On assembly, metal to metal contact of the flange faces is achieved. The Style BX is not interchangeable with any other style, and is only suited for API 6BX flanges. Style BX ring type joints are designed to seal pressure up to 20,000 psi in accordance with API 6A pressure ratings.

The Style R ring type joint is manufactured in accordance with API 6A and ASME B16.20, to suit API 6B and ASME B16.5 flanges.

Style R ring type joints are manufactured in both oval and octagonal configurations. Both styles are interchangeable on the modern flat bottom groove, however only the oval style can be used in the old type round bottom groove.

Style R ring type joints are designed to seal pressure up to 6,250 psi in accordance with ASME B16.5 pressure ratings and up to 5,000 psi in accordance with API 6A pressure ratings.
