Lid blanks are positioned upright in the magazine. By means of a swivel mounted transfer, each blank is separated by vacuum and positioned horizontally. The folding tool picks the blank and transfers it to the lid application section. During transfer, hotmelt adhesive is applied to the blank. The forming tool wraps the lid blank around the positioned tray or case. In addition, the lid flaps are pressed and held by pneumatic movements. The forming tool is designed for quick change over.

Filled tubs enter the machine on a conveyor belt and are positioned in the lidding section. Each lid is denested and positioned above the tub transport conveyor. The rim of the tub engages the lid, following which driven pressing rollers are positioned to push the lid onto the tub so that the tub is closed. The lid magazine is automatically re-filled from stacks of lids which are prepositioned on the lid conveyor.
