Features
The American Disc Filter by FLSmidth offers increased capacity and improved filtrate quality, increased mechanical stability, and reduced maintenance. The filter consists of a number of discs centrally mounted on a shaft suspended at each end of the filter tank. Each disc consists of multiple, pie-shaped sectors which are individually covered with a suitable filtering medium. Sectors are held in place around the centre shaft by radial rods on each side and by clamps at the top. Cake is removed by a specially designed discharge mechanism, which then falls into a hopper beneath the filter

The drum filter has always been one of the most economical dewatering methods. With the Dorr-Oliver and Eimco technology, FLSmidth kept on through the years improving their filters re-designing them to continuously changing demands of modern technology.
In the recent years, however, the problems in the beneficiation of iron ore made it necessary to re-design the heavy duty drum filter to improve productivity and the abrasion-resistance to reduce the maintenance costs and downtime.

The unit features a tank with mixer fro the preparation of the filterng agent, a metering pump, a centrifugal pump for pressurized filtering, throttle vavles, back-lighted mirrors for monitoring of the products vividness, and residual filters with pump though the last disc. It is offered in sizes from 2 to 3- mq., and contains an internal Final filtering device together with a dosing unit in stainless steel with pump and stirrer.
Furthermore, it has an adjustable flow rate and a stainless steel pump.
