Optical filter

These Linear Variable Edge Filters can be used in pairs in order to create highly efficient custom bandpass filters. They have an optimum input beam diameter of 0.2 x 8.0 mm and provide OD3 blocking. Linear Variable Bandpass Filters can also be supplied.

The Linear Variable Edge Filters have been designed either for individual use or for use in pairs to selectively block or transmit targeted wavelengths. They can be supplied as shortpass, longpass or dichroic filters. Longpass edge filters are able to transmit wavelengths which are greater than the cut-on wavelength. The shortpass edge filters, however, are able to transmit wavelengths shorter than the cut-off wavelength. The dichroic edge filters operate in a similar fashion to the longpass edge filters but the unwanted wavelengths are always reflected.

Linear Variable Edge Filters can operate as laser-line filters or variable bandpass filter with turntable center bandwidths and wavelengths when combined. These are characterized by their interference coating which is deliberately wedged in the desired direction so as to shift the whole of the center wavelength across the substrate length.

Optical filter / glass

The Edmund Optics colored glass bandpass filters are available in circular and square shapes. The optical bandpass filter’s transmission band is surrounded by two blocking bands that only permit part of the spectrum to pass through them. The optical bandpass filters have broad spectral bandwidths in either ultraviolet (UV), visible or infrared spectrums.

The filter is nearly black and absorbs any visible radiation. This is an excellent choice for those applications in which ultraviolet or infrared detection is needed. Many times, UV filters are used for the selective transmission of 254 and 365nm mercury lines. Often, IR filters are used in night vision and IR sensing systems. There are eight filter sets available. A pre-loaded filter wheel is available too.

Optical filter / interference - ø 11.8 - 25.4 mm

Edmund Infrared Bandpass Interference Filters are superbly crafted to deliver exceptional performances in transmitting a small range of selected wavelengths while filtering out the other wavelengths. The filters are available in varying CWL versions. They are conducive for use in combination with LEDs and laser diodes. They can be used mounted or unmounted as per applications and requirements.

Interference filters are perfect for use in a wide array of applications in the biomedical, biotechnology and quantitative chemical fields. They are extremely handy in clinical chemistry instrumentation, colorimetry, environmental testing, elemental and laser line separation, fluorescence, immunoassays, flame photometry and related applications. Interference filters are used to isolate discrete spectral lines from gas/arc discharge lamps of Hg, Xe, Cd, etc. They are also used in isolation of particular spectral lines from lasers like Ar, Kr, Nd:YAG etc.

The filter gives uniform performance with any side of the filter facing the source of wavelengths. However, it is best used with the mirrored side facing the source. This reduces the impact of thermal radiation.

Optical diffuser

Knight Optical customized diffusers function to alter the divergence of incident light. These products are available in five standard types which can all be made to custom shapes and desired sizes to meet the customer's demand. These products are also used for entertainment purposes. Diffusers are utilized in traditional imaging applications and for the regulation of light for optical sensing and military instrumentation as well.

These optical diffusers come with ground glass, plastic screens, Anti-Newton and flashed opal and holographoic diffusers. The custom diffuser products incident light in a different way and are used in a variety of applications.

Optical filter / infrared-reject - 1 - 100 µm

A wide range of custom infrared filters by Knight Optical are supplied for use in the IR wavebands. These are available as per specifications of the customers, and are custom-made. Some of them are Custom Infrared Interference bandpass filters, comprise, narrow pass, standard pass, wide pass, and filter sets.

The composition of these infrared interference filters includes IR substrates such as silicon, sapphire, IR Quartz and germanium etc., alongwith thin films of varying refractive indices and thicknesses. The effect of moving the pass band toward longer wavelengths is achieved by placing the filters on axis as the difference in angle from zero increases path length of the rays. Functionality is enhanced by isolating emission lines by using custom interference band-pass filters. The isolation of laser lines is used to maximize the signal relative to noise ratio.

Opal diffuser

Knight Opticals’ Custom Flashed Opal diffuser with a standard thickness of 0.45mm comes with option to obtain a thinner opal layer after polishing is available both in white flashed opal (opalika) and pot opal. The 1400x1600m sheets can be availed on request in larger sizes and shapes, diameters, square or rectangular both in cut and chamfered edges or fine ground as per diffuser specifications. Wide scattering angles ensure brightness reduction but have excellent usage in light boxes and other illumination systems, with being independent of the viewing angle.

Optical filter / neutral-density

The Neutral Density Absorption Type Filters (with custom transmittance, dimensions and shape), delicately manufactured by Altechna, generally functions through minimizing the intensity of light even without modifying the relative spectral distribution of the energy. Through the utilization of an absorbing type glass, attenuation may be accomplished.

These filters feature a material composition made from neutral density glass with a diameter tolerance of +0/-0.2 mm. In addition, its surface quality is 60-40 Scratch and Dig.
