Polarization measuring system - 1 440 - 1 620 nm | PolaWise™

PolaWiseTM is an advanced polarization measurement system for accurate characterization of all polarization related properties of light sources and optical materials. Based on General Photonics' patented magneto-optic polarization generation and analysis technology, the PSGA-101-A is specially designed for fiber optic applications and can effortlessly accomplish multiple functions, including polarization state generation (PSG), polarization state analysis (PSA), polarization extinction ratio (PER) measurement, polarization dependent loss (PDL) measurement, and polarization mode dispersion (PMD) measurement. Another attractive feature of the instrument is its large flip-top LCD graphic display design, an industry first that allows large viewing area on a compact, portable enclosure. Furthermore, a 2x20 character LCD is also included on the front panel for easy operation of the instrument for applications that do not require a graphic display, such as PER measurement. The instrument comes with an internal tunable laser for PDL and PMD measurement up to 10 ps. It can also control tunable lasers from third parties via a GPIB port for measurement of larger PMD values. Using a patented maximum & minimum search technique, the DOP-201 measures and displays the Degree of Polarization (DOP) of a light source in real time with high accuracy and wide dynamic range. While polarimeter-based systems are expensive and can be inaccurate for low-DOP sources, and polarization scrambler-based instruments are less accurate for high DOP sources, the DOP-201 accurately measures both low and high DOP. It is ideal for characterizing the performances of depolarizers and depolarized light sources, such as ASE and SLED sources and the pumps for Raman amplifiers. It can also be used to monitor the OSNR and PMD of optical signals, and to measure the noise figure of optical amplifiers. The instrument can cover a wide operating wavelength range, including the S, C and L bands, without calibration. Its simultaneous measurement of DOP and optical power level of the light source under test can be used to obtain DOP power dependence and to ensure low insertion loss during depolarizer manufacturing. The DOP-201 replaces our popular DOP-101, with higher measurement speed, higher measurement accuracy and resolution, wider operating power range, a better and brighter display, and the addition of an analog output port for easy integration in automated depolarizer manufacturing stations.

General Photonics in-line polarimeter is specially designed for low cost, high-speed polarization characterization without interrupting data traffic. It outputs four voltage signals for calculating both the degree of polarization (DOP) and the state of polarization (SOP) of the light passing through the device in microseconds. PolaDetect is ideal for integration into polarization monitoring and polarization stabilization modules, or into polarization characterization instruments. The preamplification board provides analog signals for SOP/DOP calculation, feedback/control, and computer interface. A calibration matrix is provided with every device for this calculation. Devices without the preamplification board and calibration matrix are also available for OEM purposes. The output fiber can be either single mode or PM.
