ECD's SMS-22 Sulfide Measuring Analyzers are generally used for constant sulfide ion measurement operations in aqueous media. Since sulfides are present in a range of bodies of water, such as well water, municipal wastewater, and refinery waste waters. The SMS-22 devices utilize sulfide ion selective electrode (ISE) systems for analyzing the total sulfide levels present in samples. While the ISE systems measure sulfide rates present in samples, the pH measurement infer the percentage of sulfide measured.
Potassium hydroxide (KOH) elements are added in order to increase sample pH levels to pH 13, while pH electrodes calculates actual pH. Both sulfide and bisulfide exist in a pH-dependent equilibrium, with the ratio dependent on pH. Measurement applications must be done at extensive pH levels, in which S-2 exists.
