The CSE2000 Carrier Services Engine is a hardened, high-performance service provider appliance that delivers a wide range of x86 scale, SDN controller, and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) applications. It meets or exceeds NEBS/ETSI standards, and provides a robust foundation for Juniper and third-party services such as route reflection, traffic sampling, flow monitoring, WAN optimization, and distributed denial of service (DDoS) protection.
The CSE2000 reduces costs by colocating services with transport and edge devices, and simplifies the services architectures by deploying a network controller in any convenient location. This “just in time” NFV service processing complements the cloud-based network services pioneered by Juniper Contrail.
Software from Juniper Networks such as Contrail, IP/MPLSView, NorthStar, and third parties can run on the CSE2000, and all applications are user-installable. System throughput is up to 40 Gbps per blade and stacking is available for higher performance clustering. This appliance has been designed with the highest reliability standards so it supports redundant hot-swappable power supplies, front-to-back airflow, a hardware alarm interface, and services are supported over multiple parallel 10GbE links with automatic failover in the event of a link loss.
