Ball bearing / spherical - EJ series
In order to reduce roller land, the new Timken EJ innovative cage design is piloted on the inner land. The open, slotted face of the cage also extends above the roller centerline which enhances cage stiffness and reduces stresses in the cage in cases of acceleration of high shock loads. A roller guidance function is incorporated in the cage pockets which guides the roller in and out of the load zone. Friction is reduced between the ring and the roller as there is no need for a central guide ring. Space for a longer roller is also created which increases capacity. This unique design enhances lubrication flow.
A nitriting process is used to heat EJ cages across the range. This process is designed to reduce wear under increased loads and speed. Extra high fatigue strength is also produced, making the bearing suitable for harsh environments.
