In the double-wheel surface grinding technique, two vertical wheels grind the parallel outer sides of the work piece simultaneously. The grinding wheels are set against each other at a slight angle. As the wheels pass from top to bottom, the work piece retains its final dimension only in the bottom section of the grinding path. The weight of the work pieces does not affect the grinding result because the work pieces are fed vertically between the grinding wheels. The cooling lubricant drains down with the removed material.
