DESMI Ro-Clean has developed a new, very environmentally friendly Fence Boom which will suit most protection purposes with regard to Oil Spill Response in a large number of protected water areas. The boom is known as A-BOOM.
As a solid float fence type of boom it is immediately ready for deployment in the event of an oil spill in a harbour, jetty, lake or other protected water area.
The standard section length is 15 metres and the connection type is the well-proven U-bolt system which is so simple that missing parts can be easily sourced locally.
As the weight of the boom is only 1.5 kg/m a 15 metre section has a weight of only 22 kg.

The TROILBOOM family of oil containment fence booms are lightweight rapid response booms that are ideal for operations in ports, harbours, inland and coastal waters - where a quick response is required.
TROILBOOM incorporates symmetrical closed cell foam floats that allow the boom to be wound up onto boom reels or packed into racks and containers. TROILBOOM is very simple to deploy and can be used without any special ancillary equipment.
Up to 400 metres of TROILBOOM can be stored on a reel. 200 metres can be deployed in less than 5 minutes without the use of power packs or air blowers.
TROILBOOM is manufactured in bright orange PVC / Nitrile coated woven polyester with webbing bands for added tensile strength. Handles are provided at approximately every metre along the top of the boom. The smooth profile of the TROILBOOM facilitates easy cleaning after use in an oil spill. The internal fibreglass rods ensure the skirt remains upright in normal towing conditions. The highly flexible construction allows the TROILBOOM to closely follow the wave movements.

The bright orange floats are manufactured in high abrasion resistant material. These closed cell foam filled moulded HD Polyethylene floats are attached to the base fabric with stainless steel fittings. The same floats are utilised for all boom sizes, providing a commonality of spares. The floats can be unbolted from the base fabric for cleaning if necessary. A float can be simply replaced if damaged. Anchor points can be provided at the section ends or at regular intervals between the floats. The unique construction ensures complete cross vulcanization of the composite materials resulting in a finished product with high abrasion resistance, peel resistance and tensile strength. RO-BOOM lies completely flat when deflated allowing easy cleaning, storage, recovery and maintenance. Individual air chambers provide high integrity - even if one air chamber is deflated the freeboard is maintained by adjacent air chambers. RO-BOOM is fitted with stainless steel fittings and hot galvanized ballast/tension chain, secured with reinforced chain attachment points. Internal fibre glass rods with stainless steel brackets ensure optimum skirt profile under tow.
