They are optical elements featuring two-angled plano surfaces for beam steering and displacement, as well as stray back reflection prevention. MgF2 or CaF2 crystal material is available if required, as well as a UV-grade fused silica, which offers impressive thermal properties, advanced transmission, environmental durability, etc.

The Penta Prism boasts a five sided design and is able to mirror light rays via a 90 degree angle with the help of two reflections and doesn't revert or invert the image. Adding to this, it features aluminized reflecting surfaces and even the smallest movement of the prism does not alter the authentic light angle at which light rays are reflected. The penta prism is also ideal to minimize the instrument optical path length.
