The MAX9814 presents a low-cost solution for applications that require high-performance microphone amplifier. It contains an automatic gain control and low-noise microphone bias. The low-noise preamplifier features a 12dB gain while the VGA gain features an automatic adjustment in a range from 20dB to 0dB, that is based on the output voltage as well as AGC threshold. Gains of 8dB, 18dB, and 28dB are optional, programed through the use of a trilevel digital input. The AGC threshold is controlled through the use of an external resistive divider while a single capacitor handles the attack/release times.
