The Ogura Industrial Corporation offers the Magnetic Particle Clutch and Brake. equipped with permanent magnets and magnetic particles transmit toque. The device produces a drag torque using the hysteresis principle. This allows constant torque levels, and lessens the possibility of high break away torque that occurs with typical friction devices.

These tools come in two model types, such as standard OPL units, also known as N type, and the OPL units to be supplied with a thru-bore or the R type. The N type comes with an integrated integral shaft that can be lengthened, shortened or adapted to meet the requirements of the users. The R type has a smaller bore units available in 6mm and 8mm; larger units are only available with an 8mm bore.

The HC series is a line of electromagnetic hysteresis clutches/brakes manufactured by Ogura. It features a static torque range of 0.0367 lbs.ft to 0.741 lbs.ft, which is independent of slip speed. The torque can be adjusted by varying the current. It remains constant if current is stable.

The unit is resistant to wear, and generates drag torque without physical contact of parts. It repeats performance under identical working conditions. The device ensures smooth operation at any slip speed, due to the absence of mechanical friction. It can be mounted in horizontal or vertical position with no adjustments to be made, and no gaps to be set.
