ITW vortec has introduced this cold - air gun for fulfilling the requirement of extra cooling in the applications with micro lubrication. There is a vortex tube in the device that helps in converting the normal air to cold air with a -10 degree Celsius of temperature. It does not make use of hot air and does not require refrigerants. It can perform operations without any noise. The oil meant for micro lubrication is fed inside from a lubrication unit through a flexible tube and it reaches the cold - air gun and then it is blown out of the nozzle along with cold air to it's machine. This extra cooling can help in increasing the production speed and also the tool life.

When it comes to machining tasks, there are numerous applications where dry cutting is the first choice. Surface finish, tool wear and materials have always required cooling with certain greases and coolants. The minimal moisture spray cooling can cause unwanted effects, including the build-up of dirt and the swarf adhesion to the cutting tool. The working surface, on the other hand, can lead to the material surface structure deterioration, depending on the type of material being machined.

Next, the cooling method is a patented one and ensures adequate surface and tool cooling, reducing the effects to negligible levels at the same time. This will keep the swarf dry and easy to remove, by vacuuming or blowing. Finally, the surfaces will be protected and the life of the tool will be increased significantly. Note that the main component of the cooling method is the cold air nozzle.
