The SM series is designed for versatile use and considered a all round granulator for todays recycler.

SM series granulators are designed with rotor and stator knives that are counter angled to each other producing a true scissors type cutting action. This design results in a cleaner more uniform granulate and reduced heat build up in the granulate. Double angle cut also reduces noise emissions and energy consumption. All knives are straight sharpening and require no special knife sharpening fixture. All cutting knives are pre-adjusted to the proper size gap outside the granulator with the use of the knife setting fixture which creates a constant gap between rotor blade circumference and screen resulting in reduced friction and therefore less thermal stress of the material. Knife changes can be accomplished 60% quicker and safer then adjusting knives within the granulator.

Plastic granulator with force feeding system

To increase the through-put rate of a granulator used for size reduction of loose, unpressed plastics a force feeding technique was developed.

Via conveyor the material is fed in the feed hopper. The transport to the grinding chamber is now no longer only based on the principle of gravitation - in fact the material is now fed to the grinding chamber by one / or more vertically assembled...

To increase the through-put rate of a granulator used for size reduction of loose, unpressed plastics a force feeding technique was developed.

Via conveyor the material is fed in the feed hopper. The transport to the grinding chamber is now no longer only based on the principle of gravitation - in fact the material is now fed to the grinding chamber by one / or more vertically assembled screws. Depending on the required granulator size the number of screws, the rotation speed as well as the drive capacity can vary. A transport screw equiped with a load-dependent control as well as a frequency converter prevents a rotor blockage caused by material accumulation. This results in a throughput rate which is ideal for the processed material. The wear protected design of the transport screw guarantees a long lasting operation time of the machine.

The features of this feeding method offer customers a number of advantages:

Increased throughput rate.

The feed hopper is equiped with a worm gear shaft which enables a continuous material feed and prevents material swerve at the same time, which results in throughput increase of up to 30%.

Decreased sound- and power peaks.
The controlled material feed guarantees a constant, smooth rotor operation and therefore reduces sound peaks, which could occure by overfeeding. This constant material feed also prevents power peaks during the operation of the machine.

Central plastic granulator / heavy-duty - 300 - 2000 mm | SM Series

These granulators are designed by Neue-herbold. The bearings of the rotor shaft are mounted within solid steel housings which offers more reliable service and eliminate any chance for the housings to crack or break under heavy shock loads. As opposed to flanged mounted bearings, outboard mounting prevents dust/fines from fouling the bearing nor grease from contaminating the granulate. Outboard mounting provides for a quieter and cooler operation.

Improved rotor designs eliminate any chance for the rotor knives to lift or loosen during heavy shock loads. The knife bolts attach to a removable and replaceable threaded clamp. The rotor flights nor the knife carrier are threaded preventing unnecessary drilling and tapping to repair stripped threads. Its totally welded housing can also be equipped with replaceable wear plates when operating with high impact or abrasive material.
