Since 2006, GE DC wind pitch motors have been built for resilience and durability in situations with extreme temperatures, high vibration, and high humidity. These motors' designs are based on industrial lift trucks, and have since been modified for wind turbine application. The wind pitch motors are robustly constructed, so that they require minimal maintenance over long intervals of time.

GE wind pitch motors have a variable speed of up to 6,500 RPM. They have ratings of 100VDC, 2,700 RPM and 30 NM of torque continuous. and 90 NM of torque at 1,400 RPM. Custom DC motor designs can be provided for wind pitch blade positioning.
