Back-up ring - ø 20 - 200 mm, 3 - 1 000 bar
Hoerbiger back-up rings protect non-metallic sealing rings from extruding in the clearance between the piston rod and the packing cup. The rings are typically constructed with cast iron or bronze. Only the end space of the packing case cup is sealed by the rings. There is a small gap in the bore hole from the piston rod. The rings enable PTFE to be used as a sealing ring at high pressures. A broad variety of materials are available for a range of applications. Examples include natural gas or food industry.
