A process cycle time of under ten seconds is achieved by the unmanned Model RX-1400-RB. The compact Fanuc LR Mate 200iC was the robot chosen for this machine-tending application. It is mounted at machine height on a pedestal and is fitted with a custom-engineered, pneumatically actuated, finger-like gripper. Designed and fabricated by Guyson, the gripper matches the contours of the component-holding fixtures of the blast cabinet.

There are one of two blast guns bracketed over the mount of the removable perforated steel basket, covering the batch of small components as they turn over and over.
The design eliminates harsh part-on-part impingement, preventing damage. The tilted basket design also tumbles components in a more gentle way, creating better component circulation in the batch. This results in a more thorough coverage, as well as a shorter processing cycle and a uniform surface condition on all areas.
Note that users can adjust the rotation speed of the basket, to fine-tune the batch blasting process in accordance to the behavior of various components.
