Insertion machine - DP series
SPIROL Model DP is a self contained vertical drilling and pinning machine. It has been developed for mid-to-high volume production systems that demand precise assembly drilling and pinning. The use of a single system for both drilling and pinning removes the need for close tolerance and precision drilling of individual parts. This ensures the holes for assembly are accurately aligned. The Model DP machine comprises of an automatic drilling equipment with high precision and a SPIROL Model CR pin insertion machine. Movement of assembly between the drill unit and installation station is enabled by an air-powered linear slide device.
The operating principle of Model DP is described ahead. Upon loading of the assembly into a custom fixture nest, the machine gets activated. Through automatic clamping of the assembly, it then moves towards the target drilling position and drilling takes place. The assembly then returns to the position of loading/pinning, and automatic pin installation is completed. Subsequently, the fixture unclamped and the finish assembly is detached manually.
