The Pharma-lin, engineered by Alfa Laval, is a shell and tube heat exchanger that is specifically designed to aim and meet the hygienic demands of the pharmaceutical industry. Through its versatile design, it is capable of draining and cleaning conveniently to reduce the risk of cross-contamination that is a common problem to standard heat exchangers. Moreover, its design makes it suitable for most hygienic applications.

The machine is equipped with double tube sheets in order to monitor leakage and secure the system from service media leaking into the product. It also consists of vent and drain possibilities located on the utility side for drain purposes. Moreover, it conforms to the ASME BPE, USP and cGMP standards.
