The KU cold water circulating systems include hermeticool units that can be used in applications where the cooling water temperature exceeds the air temperature by at least 5K. The hermeticool’s function is to transport heated water to the free cooler, which is located externally. From there, direct heat exchange technology transfers the heat to the ambient air.
In typical applications, the circuits must be separated with a heat exchanger in order to protect consumers from contamination with glycol. However, with the gwk hermeticool units, this step is unnecessary. They are operable all year round and can be used without glycol. Even without additional heating, an integrated safety system offers protection against freezing. The KU systems offer significant operating cost savings when compared to the free coolers requiring glycol operation.
