Enabling switch - PITenable

PITenable three stage enabling switches are manually operated control devices for use when working in the danger zone of a machine or when safety equipment has been disabled, generally during maintenance or setup. When used in stage 1 the switch is off, and the machine operates with safety functions. In stage 2 the switch is placed in its middle setting, and the machine functions while the movable guard safety functions are suspended. When stage 3 is active, the machine immediately stops if the switch is either fully pressed or suddenly released. This third stage provides protection to the operator in the danger zone if he is startled or shocked.

The JSHD4 Three position device permits an operator be issue an emergency stop signal under extreme circumstances. The device can respond to increased pressure or to complete release. Three position devices are ideal for use in trouble shooting, programming or testing when other safety precautions are not available or are inadvisable. When an operator is required to work in a high risk area to test or trouble shoot equipment, they must be provided with a means of immediately stopping the machine that does not require reliance on another operator to implement a stop. Additionally, no other operator should be able to unknowingly start the machinery once it has been stopped using the three position unit.

The ABB Safety Mat is utilized as personal protection within the hazardous working spaces around presses, robots, production lines, machines etc. Upon stepping onto the mat, the connected monitoring system will abruptly detect it and halt all dangerous machine movements.
