Filter silencer / exhaust - DX series
Balston Filters and Silencers are developed to reduce the noise level associated with air cylinders. These mufflers are far more effective than felts, pleated paper filters, sintered plastic or sintered metal filters that are standard fare in other exhaust mufflers. The effectiveness of these filters has been tested in a simulation test that duplicated the motion associated with an air cylinder rapid discharge. The length of a 1/2" line between the two ball valves is pressurized to a specific pressure. When the upstream valve is closed the downstream is opened quickly to allow the venting of the fixed air volume under pressure to atmosphere. Noise levels were measured at 0.75 meters first with no silencer and then second with the Balston filter.
