The 500 series surge protective device from Emerson is a leading brand series of high-performance devices that are UL 1449 3rd edition-type 1 listed. Manufactured with metal oxide varistor (MOV) or fuse arrays, this series of surge protective devices offers a wide range of protective solutions for machines and systems, and provides redundancy and survivability to repetitive impulses.

The type 570 devices are hybrid, combining superior properties of two different modules such as the quick response time of silicon avalanche diode modules with the high-energy capability of MOV modules. They have surge current ratings up to 375kA per mode or 750kA per phase.

TEXLIM, formerly known as PEXLIM, is a Polymer arrester solution for high mechanical strength applications. A combination of the features of the standard EXLIM and the molded PEXLIM designs provides the optimal solutions for cases that require very high demands for mechanical strength, particularly for system voltages above 420 kV. The level of mechanical strength that the HS (High Strength) PEXLIM tube design provides, is almost similar or identical to EXLIM arresters, but with smaller mass. It is also considered superior as compared to standard porcelain designs due to its seismic and pollution performance compared to the molded PEXLIM arresters.
