Line circuit relays are widely used in cases of no active loads to interrupt circuits and prevent electromagnetic fields in circuits. During disconnected loads, only 2 to 20 VA usage is measured by the line circuit relay. As a result, the line circuit relay disconnects the cable to the supply voltage and switches over to extra-low voltage. When the loads are reconnected, the increase in usage is detected by the line circuit relay and switches back to the supply voltage.The line circuit relay just switches off any unnecessary system components, and does not ensure a device for safe disconnection. The line circuit relay does not possess the capacity to detect consumers with electronic power supply units, e.g. electronically controlled vacuum cleaners. Such equipment can be practically connected to a base load resistor (PTC resistor) and enable the line circuit relay is reset to supply voltage.
