The SOLYS 2 from Kipp & Zonen is used across the world for solar energy applications. The unit has a Baseline Surface Radiation Network (BSRN) level of reliability and performance. Operation and installation of the SOLYS 2 is simpler when compared to similar units on the market. It has an optional top mounting plate as well as a shading assembly, which means it can be configured as a complete solar monitoring station with to three ventilated Kipp & Zonen radiometers. The unit has a large mounting kit and is available for direct solar radiation instruments. It comes with an advanced over-conventional tracker in the GPS receiver which can automatically configure time and location data upon installation. The SOLYS 2 does not need a computer or software for setup. The leveling of the unit can be checked simply through the use of an integrated bubble level on top.
