Private-squelch CTCSS codec with speech scrambler integrated circuit - FX/MX465
CML Microcircuits The FX/MX465 is a 2.7 volt encoder/decoder microcircuit , with half-duplex predictive Continuous Tone Controlled Squelch System (CTCSS) The integral voice-band filtering pre-filters Tx audio and rejects CTCSS tone in receive. Under microprocessor control, FX/MX465 can encode/ decode any one of 47 sub-audio frequencies (+ Notone) from 67.0 to 254.1 Hz. Pin-selectable 8-bit parallel or serial format is used to load the device with tone frequencies and all functional commands.

A separate, Rx/Tx voice-audio path comes with a highpass (sub-audio reject) filter automatically placed in the relevant Rx or Tx voice line. The bandpass filter (with selected tone frequency) and period detector present in Rx sub-audio (CTCSS) path provides a logic level output (Rx Tone Detect) to indicate successful decoding. Rx "Press to Listen" (PTL) and Tx "Squelch-Tail Elimination" functions are available in both command loading modes.
