There are certain ultrasonic sensors which use a separate panel mount controller to act as an interface between the transducer elements and the user system. These remote DIN mount devices are generally used to power, trigger and identify the return feedback signals from up to four remote transducers.

They directly interface to the transducer elements and activate the ultrasonic sensor's measurement cycle and then it evaluates the delayed time and echo signal provided from the transducer element. The time-delayed pulse signal is now transformed to an output signal, analog or switch-point which implies the target distance used by the interfaced system.

The RPS-409A-2P analog ultrasonic sensor is a self contained sensor in a PVC housing with 2" NPT mounting threads. It is powered by 20 - 30VDC with reverse polarity protection.

The RPS-409A-2P has a short circuit protected analog current sourcing 20 - 4mA output or an analog voltage 0 - 10VDC output. The analog current/voltage is a fixed mA/volts per inch based on the maximum range of the sensor.

Example 1: Using the RPS-409A-40-2PA the output is a linear 0.432mA per inch. A target placed 3 inches from the sensor will result in an output signal of 20mA and a target placed 40 inches from the sensor will result in an output signal of 4mA.

Example 2: Using the RPS-409A-40-2PV, the output is a linear 0.250V per inch. A target placed 3 inches from the sensor will result in an output signal of 0.750V and a target placed 40 inches from the sensor will result in an output of 10V.

RPS-150 is the name of a family of wide beam angle, self-contained, ultrasonic sensors, which can be used as level sensors of proximity sensors. In addition to this, there are several advantages of this device, which means the target does not have to be at the right angles in order to be detected. The flat target can tilt up to 35 degrees, still being detected, while an LED is provided for set-up purposes. There are two modes the item can be operated in, a hysteresis and proximity mode, while the frequency of operation is 38.5kHz.

The sensor comes with a 120VAC power input, while a 20-30VDC input is also provided. There are two ranges available for this product, 2" to 40" or 5" to 80", while the quick disconnect receptacle is another important feature of this item.

The MIGATRON RPS-100 series controllers feature a remote sensing head, frequency of 38.5 kHz, 2-way power operation, small remote transducers, adjustable delay controls, 2 multiplexed transducers, LED indicators, and isolated Form C relay output.
