These user-friendly hand-held tachometers are designed to perform standard and non-contact measurement. For traditional method the device uses a mechanical adapter for the conversion of rotation speed into pulses for measuring, while the non-contact, photo-reflective technique, uses a reflective strip that is positioned on the tested part and prevents external interference through the use of an optical sensor.
For the second method a modulated IR beam is used to ensure accurate results. Additionally a third method can be used, as the device is equipped with an input that can receive voltage signals from a range of external sensors. The interface is composed of a digital display (a 42-segment bargraph, indicators for signal reception, function, alarm settings etc.) a rotary switch for the selection of 7 different measurement units (RPM, Hz, etc.) and an array of function keys (MIN MAX, Smoothing, alarms, etc.).
