This laboratory machine can produce paper sheets with nearly the same characteristics as those from industrial paper mills. This is especially true of the fiber orientation. Operation
The sheet is created by spraying the pulp onto a wall of water held vertical by the centrifugal force of the rotating drum.
The sprayed pulp blends with the water wall, whose rotation orients the fibers. The fibers stick to the mesh. Each sweep deposits a layer of fibers on the mesh, resulting in a sheet of paper floating in the wall of water.
Fiber orientation can be altered by changing the speed of the pump motor, which changes the speed of the spray. A skimmer system removes the water. The sheet is drained by centrifugal force before removal.
