Double mechanical seal / carbon - 83 series
Type 83 is a carbon-bushing assembly, dual-segmented, which the manufacturer has designed to prevent bearing oil migration to the dry gas seal cartridge. Note that the item is normally applied as a double arrangement with an inert buffer gas. It can be used in combination with a type 28 dry-running gas seal to achieve impressive results, such as total sealing for ensuring separation of process gas and bearing oil in compressors.
