The very high voltage motor from ABB is a synchronous unit that is efficient and has even received the Editors' Choice Award from the Editors of Control Engineering. The design is comprised of many components that are prepared as necessary and includes a conventional synchronous unit. The stator is especially popular as it uses a high voltage cable winding setup. The design is facilitated for larger generators and transformers as required, thus creating more controls as needed. The output power is rated at 5 to 45MW at 50Hz. It is water-cooled and has a voltage from 20 to 70kV for non-sparking or pressurized areas without threatening the quality of the unit as it operates.
