Cast iron and steel are the main materials used for the construction of this item. In addition to this, the lining is asbestos-free, being made entirely of organic material. At the torque limiters, torque is transmitted through friction, while if users select the correct torque limiter size and tighten the groove nut, no movement will occur between the torque limiter and the transmission element during operation, resulting in rigid transmission.

In terms of functionality, the washers press two friction linings against the transmission element, with the force acting against the linings, which determines the torque to be transmitted. Note that if users exceed the adhesion limits, the transmission element will slip. Finally, another important aspect to notice is that the torque limiter has no bore for shafts.

Gearex couplings are made from steel with grease lubrication and a torodial sealing ring that corresponds to the international standard. Having with flexible shaft connections, they are suitable for a positive torque transmission. They ensure to compensate for axial, radial and angular shaft displacements.

This product follows the AGMA standard, and its small dimensions and low weight along with a small mass moment of inertia result in a wide range of application of Gearex couplings. According to the operating principle of the well-known crowned gear, edge pressure in the spline is avoided in case of angular and radial displacements. Permanent grease lubrication produces a better friction ratio of the spline with an operation almost free from wear and a long lasting life for the coupling.

Description
The core of the overload system is formed by the idle rotation elements. In case of overload they uncouple the driving and driven side while protecting the drive train from damages. After eliminating the overload, the rotation segments are manually re-engaged so that the drive is released again.
Setting the release torque
In order to set the coupling to the requested release torque, a defined pre-stress is generated on the disk springs in each idle rotation element via the setting nut. The number of elements varies depending on the release torque demanded. If requested, the coupling can be pre-set by the manufacturer. It is also possible to adapt the coupling while in place.
Re-engaging of idle rotation elements
After eliminating the overload driving and driven side are aligned to each other. By means of a plastic hammer or a lever the rotation segments are re-engaged manually while the re-engagement can clearly be heard. Now the overload coupling is ready for operation again.
